Halle with six players from the top ten for the first time

Tournament director Ralf Weber: "A proud moment for our tournament"

The NOVENTI OPEN will now even start into the 28th tournament (12. bis 20. June) with a record number of six top ten players tomorrow, on Monday. In the so-called Live Ranking“of the ATP, the current projection of the world ranking list, the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut has taken over 10th place from Argentinian Diego Schwartzman, and, thus, makes it half a dozen of elite players at HalleWestphalia. “This is an immensely proud moment for our tournament. A dream line-up, the matches will be first class and an unbelievable excitement guaranteed for the title battle,” Ralf Weber, the tournament director stated.

The No. 2 of the ATP World ranking list, the Russian Daniil Medvedev is leading the top ten sextet.  Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece), who is playing Novak Djokovic at the French Open this Sunday, is on a carrier high, indeed in 4th place. Should the 22-year-old even win the Grand Slam in Paris, he would even go past Rafael Nadal to reach 3rd place.

Taking part for the sixth time at the NOVENTI OPEN, Alexander Zverev, Germany’s top man, is no. 6 in the world, Andrey Rublev (Russia) jumps in, according to Live Ranking, from no. 9 up to 7 - and is placed in front of Roger Federer (ATP 8/Switzerland). Bautista Agut, the sixth in the round, starts from the 10th place of the ATP charts into the tournament. “This a a big show of trust for our tournament. Halle is and stays a place the tennis professionals enjoy playing,” tournament director Weber said.

Note: Stefanos Tsitsipas has withdrawn on Monday due to Exhaustion.
