Five Germans in the Qualifying

16 players fight for four places in the main field

German duel in the first round of the qualifying at the 29. TERRA WORTMANN OPEN: Peter Gojowczyk, the current no 95 of the world rankings, plays Nicola Kuhn (ATP 253) on Saturday, who received a wildcard. The winner will go through to the qualifying finals. Yannick Hanfmann (ATP 112) will meet Tomas Barrios Vera (ATP 126) from Chile. Mats Moraing (ATP 125), however, has the most difficult task in the qualifying in Halle. His opponent is no. 1 seeded Tallon Griekspoor (ATP 56). The player from the Netherlands only just missed going through to the main field directly.  
Local hero Louis Wessels is taking part from a German perspective. The player, born in Bielefeld, currently the ATP’s 321, was given a wildcard by tournament director Ralf Weber, will meet Maxime Cressy (ATP 67) from the USA in the qualifying. Swiss player Dominic Stricker (ATP 200) received the third wildcard, and will play against Czechs Jiri Lehecka (ATP 79). Further matches of the day on Saturday are: Arthur Rinderknech (ATP 60) from France competes with Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 123) from Switzerland, Portuguese Joao Sousa’s (ATP 63) opponent is the Moldavan player Radu Albot (ATP 121). Christopher O’Connell (Australia, ATP 116) plays the Japanese player Yuichi Sugita (ATP 274). First match starts on Saturday at 10.30 CEST.
