There has been a new record number of spectators at the GERRY WEBER OPEN just in time for the 25th birthday . Adding in the two sold out last days of the tournament this Saturday and tomorrow the finals on Sunday there will have been 116,200 visitors at Germay's most high-classed tennis tournament. "This is a great recognition for the best players field ever with stars like Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev, Tommy Haas or Dominic Thiem and of course the 'Tennistainment‘ with great music by for instance Amy Macdonald, Wincent Weiss and Sportfreunde Stiller", tournament director Ralf Weber said, and "therefore a big thanks to all the spectators, that have been so sincere,especially this year and in all the previous years."
34,100 spectators had visited the two >schauinsland-reisen Champions Trophy<-show matches and the Open Day only on the first weekend, on each of the other tournament days at least 11,000 tennis fans came to HalleWestfalen in and around the event arena. The record-holding year considering the numbers of spectators was 1995 - back then, 112,000 visitors had come. The overall number of visitors at the anniversary tournament is now 2.625.400.
