Matthias Bachinher has surprised by reaching the Main Field 26th GERRY WEBER OPEN. The German who got to the Qualifying by wild card, defeated Uzbek Denis Istomin in two sets 7:5, 6:2. The second German in the finals of the Qualifying, Yannick Maden, however, lost his match - quite clearly 2:6, 3:6 to Slovanian Lukas Lacko.
Mikhail Youzhny, GERRY WEBER OPEN-Finalist in 2013, did better. The 31 year old beat the Italian Matteo Berrettini in two sets 6:3, 7:6(7). Forth Qualifier at the GERRY WEBER OPEN is Denis Kudla from America. He won 6:2, 6:4 against Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Matteo Berrettini was pleased even though at the end of the day having lost the match. The draw made him Lucky Loser. He and not Alberto Ramos-Vinolas from Spain is now in the Main Field at the GERRY WEBER OPEN.
