The two brothers Mischa and Alexander Zverev are through to the next round in the doubles. Their opponants Brian Baker and Alexander Peya had to pull out in the first set at a score of 3:2. Baker had injured his shoulder and after being treated could not play on. Up until then both double teams had showed a good and exciting performance. The many fans on Court 1 were delighted that Zverev and Zverev took their time to give autograms and take selfies with them after the match.
It could be an all-German clash in the Semifinals as they could meet the second German duo Andre Begemann/Tim Pütz. These two were able to beat Richard Gasquet and Lucas Pouille from France today 6:3, 6:4 and will now play Raven Klaasen/Rajeev Ram, last years winners, in the Quarterfinals.
The no. one seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo only just overcome gegen Kei Nishikori and Fernando Verdasco to get to the Quarterfinals. Kubot/Melo had to go right into the match tiebreak. At the end it was 6:4, 4:6, 10:8 for the Polish-Brasilian duo. In the next round they will meet the Spanish players Roberto Bautista Agut und David Ferrer.
The third doubles players from Germany, Dustin Brown and Jan-Lennard Struff, were out in the Round of 16. They lost against Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau 6:7(3), 4:6. The next opponants for Rojer/Horia in the Quarterfinals will be Fabrice Martin (France) and Albert Ramos-Vinolas (Spain).
