As new strategic partner of the 27th NOVENTI OPEN in HalleWestfalen, it is a declared goal of the market leader in the German health care market, to extend these values and visions to the largest German tennis tournament in Germany.
“Our mission is to make the Noventi Open the most carbon neutral tennis tournament of the world“ Dr Hermann Sommer, Board Director of NOVENTI Health SE. explained. “In all our decisions we consider economical, ecological and social aspects – and we are already, as one of the few market representatives in the health care sector, certified as a carbon neutral enterprise. This means concrete that the actions of the NOVENTI Group leave no carbon footprint.
To minimize the effect of the 27th NOVENTI OPEN on the environment Dr Hermann Sommer and his team set important signs in the first year of the name partnership: based on around 100.000 visitors, NOVENTI has had the total amount of carbon dioxide emission, that the consumed food and beverages and other relevant factors during the event cause, estimated. The experts on sustainability from the institute “Fokus Zukunft” estimate a total of around 13,600 tons of CO2. This amount of emission is now to be compensated by NOVENTI by supporting a water project in Brazil under the sovereignty of the United Nations. An according certificate was presented by „Fokus Zukunft“ to the strategic name partner of the NOVENTI OPEN and tournament director Ralf Weber during the quarter final action in in HalleWestfalen.

Since January 1st, 2018, NOVENTI has compensated all CO2 emissions and economises therefore completely carbon neutrally. The on the basics of the carbon footprint estimated business emissions of NOVENTI, including the 16 German locations, are compensated by three international accepted climate protection projects: an award cooking oven projedt in Ghana, a reforest project by FSC-standard in Uruguay and an UN-certified water power project in India. For this engagement NOVENTI was certified as a carbon neutral company by the sustainability society Fokus Zukunft. Furthermore NOVENTI was awarded the “Klimaförderer 2019/2020“ by the economy senator. Board Director, Dr Hermann Sommer, is a member of the economy senate and so NOVENTI supports the “Allianz Entwicklung und Klima" of development minister Dr Gerd Müller and the economy senate.
