Italy's top doubles team advance to the final

Bolleli/Vavassori beat the German duo Hanfmann/Koepfer

Top doubles remains top doubles: Italy's Simone Bolleli and Andrea Vavassori have reached the final of the 31st TERRA WORTMAN OPEN. The top seeded pairing beat the German duo Yannick Hanfmann and Dominik Koepfer 6:3, 7:6(6) in the semi-final.

The Germans had previously won twice in the match tie-break - having entered the tournament via a wildcard. Bolleli/Vavassori obviously knew this, because they didn't even allow this match tie-break as a third set. The outsiders Hanfmann/Koepfer led twice here: first with a break at 4:2, later again in a tie-break at 5:2, but then the favourites stepped on the gas and ended the match in two sets. The biggest weakness of the two Germans overall was that they only won 46 per cent of the points on their second serve.

Bolleli/Vavassori now have the chance to make amends for their defeat in 2023. They lost to Melo/Peers in the final of the tournament in Halle.
