Joao Fonseca has accepted a wild card into the Terra Wortmann Open, an ATP 500 grass-court event that begins Monday in Halle. This will be the 18-year-old #NextGenATP star's second grass-court season and second appearance in Halle. The teen also received a wild card last year, when he fell to James Duckworth. When he competed at the German tournament in 2024, Fonseca was the No. 217 player in the PIF ATP Rankings. Since then, the Brazilian has won an ATP Tour title (Buenos Aires) and is up to a career-high World No. 57. Fonseca most recently competed at Roland Garros, where he advanced to the third round with straight-sets victories against Hubert Hurkacz and Pierre-Hugues Herbert before bowing out to Jack Draper. The reigning Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF champion owns a 12-8 record this season according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.
