Jan-Lennard Struff has reached the doubles semi-finals with his doubles-partner Ben McLachlan (Japan) at the NOVENTI OPEN. In the round of the last eight the un-seeded duo won 7:6(1), 6:1 against the all-German duo Dustin Brown and Tim Pütz. Now they will meet the top-favourites on Saturday. The no. 1 seeded Lukasz Kubot (Poland) and Marcelo Melo (Brazil) were not defeated on the grass in Halle in the last two years. They would very much like to get the title-hat trick. But it won’t be easy to get the trophy. They had a tough time against David Goffin (Belgian) and Pierre-Hugues Herbert (France) in the quarter-finals. They only just won 6:4, 6:7(4), 11:9.
On the lower side of the tableau the two seeded duos have fought through. Raven Klaasen (South Africa) and Michael Venus (New Zealand), the no. two seeded and also the no. three seeded Croatian Nikola Mektic and Franko Skugor are without loss of sets. They will meet on Friday to determine the first finalists.
