Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram do it again

They successfully defend the title by winning 7:6(5), 6:2 against Lukasz Kubot and Alexander Peya

The GERRY WEBER OPEN are good grounds for Raven Klaasen (South Africa) und Rajeev Ram (USA). Last year, at the Westfalian tournament, they won their first ever title at a grass tournament as partners. Now they were able to repeat their success of last year and the two now hold two doubles titles on the ATP Tour. This time they won 7:6(5), 6:2 against Lukasz Kubot (Poland) and Alexander Peya (Austria).

The servers dominated the first set. Kubot/Peya only had a chance to break at 3:3, but Raven Klaasen fended off an ace. so the tie-break had to decide. After 46 minutes the title holders won 7:5. From now on the South African - US duo were in the lead. Alexander Peya on the other hand was not able to cling on to his performanance from the first round. He got a break in both of his service games. Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram used their second match point after 74 minutes to again win the title.

"We are really happy to have again won here. There is such a fantastic audience in Halle. It's fun to play here - and then with so much success", the GERRY WEBER OPEN winners of 2015 and 2016 rejoiced. Lukasz Kubot and Alexander Peya showed themselves as fair losers. "Raven and Rajeev were the better players today. They won deservedly. Who, like us, has to fend off five match points in the first two rounds should be glad to even reach the finals. And we are glad. We were able to get ready for Wimbledon", the finalists Lukasz Kubot and Alexander Peya explained.
