Top duo wins Doubles

Kubot/Melo defeat Zverev/Zverev

In the end the Doubles-Finals at the 25th GERRY WEBER OPEN had to be decided in a match tiebreak. The number one seeds Lukasz Kubot und Marcelo Melo were able to win the tight duel against Mischa and Alexander Zverev in the end 5:7, 6:3, 10:8. The spectators saw an exciting and balanced match on the Centre Court.

The Zverev brothers could get the first set. After 38 minutes they got the first break to bring it to 6:5, four minutes later they shot the set point 7:5. Before that Alexander Zverev, who had already played in the singles Finals, had had to be treated. After a short break the 20 year-old was able to play on, though.
In the second round Kubot/Melo were then more determined. The first set point was fendered off by Zverev/Zverev and they brought through their service 2:5. The second one to win the set was brought through safely by the Polish-Brazilian duo.
After one hour and eleven minutes it was match tie break. Both duos weren't playing around, tried to win the match well-serving. In the end Kubot/Melo showed their class, though, the top seeds won the third round after one hour and 25 minutes and with that the Doubles-title.
