The first player to reach the round of 16 of the 32nd TERRA WORTMANN OPEN has been decided: Hungarian Fabian Marozsan won his opening match on Centre Court against Miomir Kecmanovic from Serbia 6:7, 6:4 and 6:4. The two opponents gave each other nothing, and it took the world number 58 two hours and eleven minutes to convert his first match point to win.
It didn't look good for Marozsan at first. Kecmanovic (ATP 47) dominated the tie-break of the first set almost at will, taking the set 7:3. But Marozsan turned the match around. He broke his opponent in the very first game of the second set and then held his service. With his first set point, he made it 6:4 and levelled the set.
Fabian Marozsan and Miomir Kecmanovic continued to play on equal terms in the third set. The servers dominated, albeit with the odd break point, but Marozsan managed the first break to make it 5:4. He didn't let anything get in the way of his own service, winning the match with an ace and thus his second second second-round appearance in Halle after 2024. For Kecmanovic, who won in Delray Beach this year, it was his fourth first-round defeat at the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN in his fourth appearance.
