Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz on course for the title

The Germans are in the doubles final of the 31st TERRA WORTMANN OPEN

Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz have made it. The top German doubles pairing defeated France's Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 6:1, 4:6 and 10:5 in the match tie-break in the semi-final on the center court. And on Sunday they can hope for the first triumph of an all-German doubles team since 2009. Back then, Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber won in Halle.

This is the second final in Halle for Krawietz and Pütz. However, they contested the first one with different partners. Krawietz from Coburg won the 2021 TERRA WORTMANN OPEN together with Romanian Horia Tecau, while Pütz from Frankfurt suffered a defeat in the 2022 final together with New Zealander Michael Venus.

Set one was a clear affair for the German duo. Both Doumbia and Reboul took the service from Krawietz/Pütz, with Pütz finally bringing the set home 6:1 with strong serves. A different picture in set two. The French were more confident and courageous - and were rewarded with a break for 4:2. Pütz was unable to hold his service. But the Germans defended themselves against losing the set and broke their opponents. Everything open again? Think again! Once again it was Pütz who had problems with his service. Doumbia/Reboul took the first set point to make it 6:4.

The match tie-break had to be decided and Krawietz/Pütz got off to a strong start here. They extended their lead from 3:1 and 6:2 to 8:4 and 9:5. Four match points. The Germans, seeded second, capitalized on the first and took the final.

Krawietz/Pütz will face the top doubles pairing of Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori in the final of the 31st TERRA WORTMANN OPEN. The Italians, seeded number one, finally want their first win in Halle, last year they were defeated in the Champions tie-break by the Brazilian-Australian combination Marcelo Melo and John Peers.
