Richard Gasquet is in the Semifinals

Three-Set-Win against Robin Haase

It was a balanced duel in the meantime but in the end it was Richard Gasquet who won clearly 6:1, 3:6, 6:1 against the man from the Netherlands, Robin Haase. With that the Frenchman is through to to round of the best four for the second time since 2013 at the GERRY WEBER OPEN.

The first set couldn't have startet better for Gasquet: Break to make him leading 2:0 after a double-fault bei his opponant and fendering off Haases' chance to re-break. The Frenchman then wasn't careful with his break points: three chances to make it 4:0 were given away, before at last he could use the fourth one. Gasquet played more focused and with less faults than the man from the Netherlands. After 27 nminutes he his first set point was converted to bring the score to 6:1.

Haase service was often not precise enough and he faulted a lot. Twice he had a chance to break in the first set, but both chances were not used. In the second set, eventually, after 45 minutes, he was able to take his opponants service. Now Haase had at last arrived on the Centre Court. After his own service he was able to exploit the weak phase of the Frenchman and went into the lead with two breaks 5:1.  Gasquets' re-break didn't make a difference, Haase won this round 6:3.

The Frenchman showed the same good performance in the third as in the first set. He left Haase no chance anymore, his service was very concentrated and sure and after 1:33 hours he won the Quarterfinals with his first match point. He again profited by the mistakes made by the man from the Netherlands.

Gasquet will now either meet Roberto Bautista Agut or Alexander Zverev in the Semifinals.
