HalleWestfalen, October 31st, 2025 – The TERRA WORTMANN OPEN can look forward to an extraordinary field of participants next year: Olympic champion Alexander Zverev returns to Halle as Germany’s No. 1 to once again battle for the title on the Centre Court of the OWL ARENA. Joining him are U.S. stars Ben SheltonTaylor Fritz, and Frances Tiafoe, as well as Halle regulars Daniil MedvedevAndrey Rublev, and Italy’s rising star Flavio Cobolli, who have all confirmed their participation.

Tournament director Ralf Weber is thrilled: “This line-up is a real statement. Alexander Zverev – Germany’s Top Star returns to Halle: The Tokyo Olympic champion and long-time German No. 1 has been a crowd favorite in Halle for years. With his commanding presence on court, powerful baseline game, and ability to turn matches through emotion and focus, Zverev never fails to create special moments at the OWL ARENA. Currently ranked World No. 3, he is one of the few players to win titles regularly on all surfaces – proof of his versatility and exceptional talent. “Alexander Zverev is an institution in Halle. He’s not only a sporting icon but also personally very connected to us. He loves this tournament, the crowd loves him – and his grass-court tennis is always a highlight,” says tournament director Weber. With 24 ATP titles, including seven Masters 1000 crowns and victories at the ATP Finals (2018, 2021), Zverev has firmly established himself among the world’s elite. Since 2017, he has finished every season inside the top ten – a testament to his remarkable consistency. After multiple finals and semifinals in Halle, he’ll once again be fighting for the title in 2026.

Daniil Medvedev – The most strategic among the World Stars: With his exceptional tactical intelligence, versatile style, and composure on court, former champion Daniil Medvedev has been one of the standout figures on the ATP Tour for years. The 2021 U.S. Open champion and multiple Grand Slam finalist has proven that he belongs among the best on all surfaces, including grass. “Medvedev stands for cleverness and mental strength – qualities that make him one of the most fascinating players of our time,” says Weber. “His participation is a win for every tennis fan.” The 2025 Halle finalist has captured 21 ATP titles, including six Masters 1000 trophies and the ATP Finals 2020. His ability to read opponents’ pace and counter with tactical precision makes him one of the most feared players on tour.
Medvedev triumphed in Halle in 2022, defeating Hubert Hurkacz en route to the title – a demonstration of his strategic brilliance and grass-court prowess.

Andrey Rublev – Pure emotion and energy: Two-time Halle finalist Andrey Rublev is synonymous with raw power and passion. The 28-year-old has collected numerous ATP titles and is known as one of the most charismatic players on tour. With his explosive game and open, authentic personality, Rublev has won the hearts of fans worldwide. “Andrey Rublev plays with heart and commitment – he stands for pure intensity on court,” says Weber. “He perfectly embodies our tournament motto: Tennis with passion and personality.” With 17 ATP singles titles, including Masters 1000 victories and multiple ATP 500 trophies, Rublev has firmly established himself among the world’s elite. A fan favorite in Halle, his aggressive baseline play and flat, precise strokes make him a dangerous opponent on grass.

Ben Shelton – The Shooting Star of U.S. tennis: At just 22, the left-hander from Atlanta is one of the most exciting young talents in world tennis. With his powerful serve, explosive movement, and unorthodox style, Ben Shelton has risen rapidly to the top of the game. His breakout year came in 2023, reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and the semifinals at the U.S. Open, captivating crowds with his energy and signature celebrations. With his first ATP title in Tokyo and a Masters 1000 triumph in Toronto, Shelton secured his place in the top 10. “Ben Shelton represents the new generation of American tennis – athletic, charismatic, and incredibly entertaining,” says Weber. “His debut in Halle will be a highlight for us all.”

Taylor Fritz – America’s No. 1 with power and precision: At 27, Taylor Fritz has long been the leading figure in American men’s tennis. The Californian is known for his consistency, professionalism, and composed style. Currently ranked World No. 4, Fritz has become a fixture in the top ten with his powerful baseline game and lethal serve. “Taylor Fritz is a complete player – tactically smart, technically strong, and mentally tough,” says Weber. “He’s proven himself on grass and will be among the title favorites in Halle.” Fritz’s greatest triumph came in 2022, when he won the Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells, defeating Rafael Nadal in the final. With additional ATP titles on various surfaces – including grass in Eastbourne and Stuttgart – he continues to prove his versatility. "It feels great to finally return to Halle. I've really missed the tournament and the special atmosphere here. It’s a great event for players, top-notch conditions, and the tradition that makes Halle unique. In 2026, I want to show my best tennis in Halle and compete for the title” says Fritz.

Frances Tiafoe – The fan favorite full of heart and energy: Frances Tiafoe is more than just a top player – he’s an entertainer. The 27-year-old American delights fans with his passionate play, spectacular rallies, and infectious personality. Born in Maryland, Tiafoe embodies the American dream. Through hard work, talent, and joy for the game, he rose to the world’s elite. His biggest success came at the 2022 U.S. Open, where he reached the semifinals after defeating Rafael Nadal. Flavio Cobolli – Italy’s young hope on the big stage: At 23, Flavio Cobolli represents the impressive rise of Italian men’s tennis. Born in Florence, he was recognized early as a major talent. Combining Italian flair with technical finesse, Cobolli has worked his way into the top 30 and become a fan favorite. His breakthrough came in 2024, reaching multiple ATP semifinals and scoring his first Grand Slam match wins. In 2025, he captured his first ATP titles in Bucharest and Hamburg, along with several strong Masters performances as well as a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon. “Flavio Cobolli impresses with emotion and attacking instinct. His courage to always move forward and his energy fit perfectly with our tournament’s philosophy. We’re very happy to welcome him back to Halle in 2026,” says Weber.
