Laslo Djere serves superiorly

The Serbian defeats last year’s semi-finalist Oscar Otte 7:6(3), 6:3

Oscar Otte has not been able to repeat his run from last year. The first round was already the end of the line for the 29 year-old German at the 30. TERRA WORTMANN OPEN. Oscar Otte lost 6:7(3), 3:6 to Serbian player Laslo Djere.

Significant for the first set were strong services, hardly any long rallies. Above all Laslo Djere’s service was superb; Oscar Otte was only able to get two points in his first five service games. But also the tall German left nothing to chance in his service games. Also the Serbian player was not able to get even near to a break point. Only at the score of 6:5 for Oscar Otte, Laslo Djere faltered. His first service was not played as usual and the German anticipated his opponent’s service better. Thus Oscar Otte got three set points, which Laslo Djere, however, fended off superiorly and saved himself into the tie break. Of all things, the German had a slight weak phase when the decider of the first set was near, which Laslo Djere took advantage off straight away. Four points in a row meant a lead of 5:2 for the Serbian player. And he wasn’t going to let this advantage go – after 52 minutes the score was 7:6(3).

“I served strongly, played a good match”, Laslo Djere was highly satisfied with his performance. And rightly so. He served very well in the second set, too, didn’t allow a break point. And again he used the presented possibilities while Oscar Otte was serving. At 3:2 he got the only and deciding break of the match, to end with his first match point after 82 minutes.

“Now it can of course come very difficult for me. I could meet the number one-seeded with Daniil Medvedev”, the first player of the tournament through to the round of 16 thought already about his next task.
